When our humans leave the house.
Some dogs panic. Some get bored. Some… redecorate the house 😅
But here’s the truth:
We don’t just need time to pass — we need purpose.
Why Routine Matters
When you leave without a routine, we don’t understand what’s happening.
But when you give us a pattern… a job… a signal…
We relax because we know what comes next.
Routine builds:
✔️ Confidence
✔️ Security
✔️ Calm behavior
✔️ Trust
It turns “Where did you go?!” into “Okay… I got this.”
Blaze’s Routine When Mum Leaves 🐾
Here’s what we do in my house:
🍪 I get 1/2 a cookie (very important business)
🛋️ I jump up on the couch in front of the window
👀 I’m told: “Wait for mommy, I’ll be home soon”
📺 Pet YouTube goes on (calm music + visuals I can follow)
That’s my job.
I wait. I watch. I stay calm.
And guess what?
I know she’s coming back.
If You’re Gone Longer…
If my mum is gone more than 5 hours:
🐾 Someone comes to check on me
🎾 I get let out and we play ball
🚶♂️ I get a quick reset and movement
That little break makes a BIG difference.
Other Ideas to Keep Us Busy (and Happy)
Every dog is different — but here are some great options:
🧩 Puzzle toys (make us think!)
🦴 Special “only when you leave” toys
🥜 Frozen treats or toys. that indestructible (long-lasting)
🎶 Calming music or pet TV
👃 Scent games (hide treats before you leave)
The key is this:
Give us something to DO — not just something to chew.
What NOT To Do
❌ Leave with no structure
❌ Make a big emotional goodbye
❌ Ignore signs of anxiety
We feed off your energy.
Calm leave = calm dog.
The Bigger Lesson
This isn’t just about leaving the house.
It’s about being intentional.
When you create structure in our lives…
We become calmer, happier, and more balanced dogs.
