You ever wonder why we:
- Chew things we shouldn’t
- Pace around the house
- Follow you everywhere
- Stare at you like… “now what?”
It’s not because we’re “bad.”
It’s because we’re unemployed 😅
🐾 What a “Job” Actually Means
A job doesn’t mean I need sheep in the backyard (although… I’m available 🐑🔥).
It means:
- 👉 Something to DO
- 👉 Something to THINK about
- 👉 Something that makes me feel useful
Because when I have a job…
- ✔️ I’m calmer
- ✔️ I’m focused
- ✔️ I’m fulfilled
🔥 Blaze’s Favorite “Jobs” (That Aren’t Basic)
Let’s get creative — not just tossing me a puzzle toy and calling it a day.
👃 1. The “Find It” Game (Scent Work)
Hide treats around the house before you leave or while I’m in another room.
Then say:
👉 “Blaze… go find it.”
Now I’m working.
Not just eating — hunting.
🧺 2. The Laundry Assistant
Yep — give me a job:
- 👉 Carry a sock
- 👉 Bring something to another room
- 👉 “Hold” an item
You think it’s small…
To me, it’s purpose.
🎒 3. The Adventure Pack Dog
Give me my own backpack (lightweight, of course).
Now I’m not just walking…
- 👉 I’m working
- 👉 I’m carrying
- 👉 I have responsibility
Instant mindset shift.
👀 4. The Watch Duty Job
This is one of my FAVORITES.
Put me by a window and say:
👉 “Watch the house.”
Now I’ve got a role.
I’m not barking randomly —
I’m on duty.
🧊 5. The “Work for Food” Routine
Don’t just hand me my food.
Make me:
- Sit
- Wait
- Find it
- Follow commands
Now eating becomes:
- 👉 A task
- 👉 A reward
- 👉 A job completed
🎾 6. Structured Play (Not Chaos Play)
Ball time isn’t just chaos.
Make it a job:
- Sit → throw
- Wait → release
- Bring back → repeat
Now it’s not just play…
It’s discipline + purpose.

Look… if anyone has sheep…

- ❌ Toss a toy
- ❌ Walk us once
- ❌ Expect us to “chill” all day
That’s not how we’re built.
